Responsibility transfer for the Champlain Bridge approaches

Today, management of the Champlain Bridge approaches is being transferred to Signature on the Saint Lawrence (SSL), the consortium responsible for building the corridor of the new Champlain Bridge. SSL is now in charge of operation, maintenance, and traffic management on the federal section of Highway 15 as well as the north and south approaches to the current bridge.

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) will continue to oversee operation, maintenance, and management of the current Champlain Bridge (from abutment to abutment), the federal section of the Bonaventure Expressway, the Champlain Bridge Ice Control Structure, the Nuns’ Island Bypass Bridge, and the other structures under its responsibility.

This responsibility transfer will enable SSL to carry out its work to redevelop the road section and ensure the safe and fluid flow of traffic in this corridor. Under the transfer, SSL has signed agreements with the same contractors as JCCBI to ensure consistency and continuity of operation and maintenance in this corridor.

Road users can now get information about traffic, obstructions, and work on the approaches to the Champlain Bridge via SSL’s communication channels:

JCCBI will continue to closely coordinate its activities in the area with SSL and will relay any important information via its regular communication channels to ensure a smooth transition.
