Invitation to a bike identification session on Saturday July 31 and August 7 by the Sûreté du Québec

In order to prevent bicycle theft, the cadets of the Sûreté du Québec invite cyclists to come and meet them during bicycle identification sessions (free chiseling) which will take place on Saturday July 31, 2021 and Saturday August 7, 2021 (postponed until the next day in case of rain) on the bike path of the Jacques-Cartier and Samuel-de-Champlain bridges.

  • Jacques-Cartier Bridge: On the bike path (Longueuil side) between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
  • Samuel De Champlain Bridge: At the entrance of the bike path (Brossard side) between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

In order to speed up the chiselling process, please locate the place where the serial number of the bike is located and bring an identification document.

The Cadet Program was first deployed as a pilot project in 2009 and 2012, then was officially integrated into the security service offering from 2013. In 2021, 184 cadets are spread over 70 MRC in order to support the entire organization in its mission, in particular by offering a familiar and reassuring presence for the population through an increased presence. This chiselling activity is part of this concept.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sûreté du Québec has taken the necessary measures to reduce the risks of contamination and infection.

If you have any symptom (s) associated with COVID-19 or if you experience other symptoms such as fatigue, runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea within the past 12 hours, a headache or pain throaty, please do not come to this identification session.
