Increase in construction activities for the new Champlain Bridge on L’Île des Soeurs in 2017 and 2018

At the Verdun / Sud-Ouest Good Neighbourly Relations Committee meeting held on April 18 at the Verdun borough office, Signature on the Saint Lawrence launched a new information campaign on the increase in construction work for the new Champlain Bridge on L’Île-des-Soeurs.

In 2017 and 2018, our construction team will be stepping up its activities, leading to more traffic disruptions, more traffic around the job site and operations that may extend into evenings, nights and weekends.

“L’Île-des-Soeurs is the primary access to the new Champlain Bridge construction site as well as the link to the new L’Île-des-Soeurs Bridge. That is why there will be a significant increase in construction activities until the bridge opens in December 2018. Every effort will be made to ensure good relations are maintained with residents and businesses. This is vital to us,” explains Daniel Genest, Director of Coordination for the Signature on the Saint Lawrence Consortium.

SSL will carefully plan and monitor its activities, applying mitigation measures wherever needed. We will release specific, targeted communications on our various activities. Finally, at the next Good Neighbourly Relations Committee meeting on June 21 at the Elgar Community Centre on L’Île-des-Soeurs, there will be a more detailed presentation on work and impacts.
