As part of the increase in construction activities on L’Île-des-Sœurs, Signature on the Saint Lawrence (SSL) wishes to inform citizens of the start of optimization work on L’Île‑des‑Sœurs Boulevard and its roundabout, Place du Commerce.

For a few weeks now, surveyors have been collecting the required data for the impending operations. The addition of a traffic light for the access to Hwy-15 South from L’Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard, as well as the widening to two lanes of certain ramps, are expected by early December. These changes will require major weekend disruptions. Details will be shared on our website, the Waze mobile app and other channels as soon as the dates are confirmed.

SSL wishes to emphasize that the purpose of the optimization work on L’Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard is above all to ensure smoother traffic flow at the entrances and exits to L’Île‑des‑Sœurs, given all of the upcoming construction activities.

As for the situation with René-Lévesque Boulevard at the Pointe-Nord, which has been a great cause for concern for residents, SSL is still studying the matter. SSL, along with the City of Montreal, the Verdun Borough and Infrastructure Canada, is working hard to find the best solution possible for everyone’s safety, with the most acceptable impact for citizens, as the scope of the work increases in the area in the coming months. The final solution should be announced by the Good Neighbourly Relations Committee meeting of November 28.  

As a reminder, since October 12, 2017, a northbound lane has been closed on René‑Lévesque Boulevard, and pile driving operations are under way nearby and will continue until the end of fall.
