Winter 2018: drainage work for the new L’Île-des-Sœurs Bridge
For the past ten days, SSL has begun work to set up the water drainage system for the new L’Île-des-Sœurs bridge.
Initially, a small jetty in the channel of Île-des-Sœurs (200 m2 area, 10 m X 20 m) was built to be capable of working in a dry environment and to carry out the various operations associated with the installation of the drainage.
Then, works of vibro- sheet piling will take place, starting from this week and will be realized during the day. This type of activity will be closely monitored by our environmental team, which will perform noise monitoring, to ensure compliance with the noise criteria of 75 dBa, from 7 am to 7 pm Also, a monitoring of the vibrations which can occur during this work, will also be realized.
In addition, in order to proceed with the implementation of the new route of the bike path, trees will have to be cut because, in direct conflict with the new cycle road. A permit has been obtained from the Borough of Verdun and a special effort will be made, as far as possible, to avoid cutting trees. SSL wishes to remind that a landscaping plan is being developed and approved by the authorities.
As for bridge construction activities, they will start up again in March when the weather will be milder.
