The end of box girder fabrication: a success story to share

A new milestone in the construction of the new Champlain Bridge has been completed. This time, it is the end of the manufacture of box girders of the east and west approaches.

Fabrication took place from February 2016 to June 2018. A total of 600 box girders were manufactured by CANAM in Quebec, and theirs subcontractors. In all, it is more than 2.8 kilometers of steel structures made by these Quebec companies, for a total of 44,000 metric tons.

Quite simply, this is the largest subcontract awarded under the New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project.The end of the box-girder manufacturing marks a crucial stage of the project.
