Original issue: As part of the construction of the New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project, Signature on the Saint Lawrence wishes to inform road users of a major disruption on L’Île‑des‑Sœurs. There will be a complete closure of René‑Lévesque Blvd between the Champlain Bridge and the Claude‑Robutel Roundabout from Monday, July 16 (5 a.m.) to Monday, August 20, 2018 (5 a.m.).
This closure will allow the installation of girders and work on the overpass of the new Champlain Bridge over René‑Lévesque Blvd.
Here are the alternate routes for road users in the Pointe‑Sud of L’Île‑des‑Sœurs during the complete closure of René‑Lévesque Blvd:
Please note there will be a shuttle available for pedestrians travelling between the Pointe‑Nord and Pointe‑Sud to mitigate the impact of the sidewalk closure on René‑Lévesque Blvd. The bus will be running while work is in progress.
The shuttle schedule is as follows:
Weekdays: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Weekends: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The shuttle service will be available until the sidewalk reopens.
There will be two stops, near the closed sidewalk on René‑Lévesque Blvd, on either side of the current Champlain Bridge. One stop will be close to the fire station on the Pointe‑Sud side, whereas the other stop will be right after the work site of the new Champlain Bridge, on the Pointe‑Nord side. There will be a sign to make the stops easy to find.
