Last delivery of box girders for the new Champlain bridge

It was November 23, 2016 when the first two steel box girders arrived on the site. Twenty-two months later, deliveries of these parts came to an end, with the last one being shipped to the site last week. This is an important milestone we have reached since the delivery of box girders was a logistical puzzle.

Of all the parts to be delivered to the site, it is the box girders that required the most planning, because each of them has a unique dimension and must be assembled in a precise order, once on the site.

We had to stay flexible and adjust on a daily basis. Whether they were delivered by train, ship, barge or truck, the 600 box-girders of unconventional size and weight, are all now arrived  in the greater Montreal area and installation will end soon.
